A "Day Without a Woman" Tea

The body is sheer openness, like the sky...Women and men can both receive the Dharma. If you are serious about the Buddha Way, you cannot make distinctions about “male” or “female”. This is fundamental to the Way of awake awareness.

From "Bowing and Acquiring the Essence" by Zen Master Eihei Dogen, as translated by Yasuda Joshu Dainen

Are you taking Wednesday off for a #DayWithoutAWoman?

This week we take a pause to celebrate the contributions of great women of the past and present. Empty Hand will be open for tea, talk and meditation at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8th in support of a #DayWithoutAWoman, a follow up to the Women's March on Washington. If you are taking Wednesday off, we would love to visit with you and talk about the Dharma of non-discrimination and the history of great women teachers in Zen.
