Zen Arts at Empty Hand proudly presents Yael Weis in concert
at EHZC Jan.13th, 2019
Dear Sangha,
I am delighted to announce that on January 13, 2019, world distinguished Yael Weiss will present a recital upstairs in the Loft at Empty Hand Zen Center, beginning at 3PM.
Yael was kind enough to provide this description of the recital for us:
"The recital is titled "32 Bright Clouds: Beethoven Conversations Around the World".
It is part of a global music-commissioning, performing and recording project I'm curating, "32 Bright Clouds". The project commissions a diverse group of composers from countries of conflict and unrest around the world, with all new works unified by a single "Peace motif" from Beethoven, where he added the inscription "A Call for Inward and Outward Peace" above the notes. "32 Bright Clouds" aims to harness music's great power for unity and peace.
The program for Empty Hand will include movements from Beethoven's Piano Sonatas ("The Hunt", "Moonlight" and "Les Adieux") and new piano works from Syria, Iran, Jordan, Ghana, Indonesia and the Philippines."
For more information about Yael Weiss, please take a moment to look at her website by clicking here.
I am certain that after learning more about her and her passion for what she is doing, you will appreciate more fully how fortunate we are to have her with us at Empty Hand.
Please RSVP as soon as possible so that we can make appropriate arrangements for seating.
I hope you can join us and help us extend our gratitude to Yael for sharing her gift and talent with us.
