STUDY TEXT: Entering the Mind of Buddha - Zen and the Six Heroic Practices of Bodhisattvas, by Reb Anderson ( Reb Anderson writes a concise, clear expression of the Six Bodisattvaha practices that flows naturally into mind and heart).
STUDY GROUP FORMAT: We will delve into a chapter a week beginning with Reb Anderson's beautiful and rich introduction. Each chapter illuminates one of the Six Practices and interweaves with the preceding chapters.
"In the reality of Buddha's awakening, these six practices all occur together simultaneously, and each practice includes all of the others. However, they are often taught and learned sequentially." (Reb Anderson, from the Introduction, Entering the Mind of Buddha).
STRUCTURE: We will come together to discuss the bodhisattva (paramita) practice in the chapter for that week, how it weaves into the preceding practice, how it shows up in our everyday lives, in our relationships, and illumines our way in these challenging times.
Each week's discussion will be facilitated by a senior student in the sangha or JiZan who will propose several questions to the group to ignite our discussion. Feel free to fully share and fully listen and, if you prefer, feel free to simply listen. Each evening will begin with 5 minutes of zazen.
COST: There is no cost for this study group, however if you are not presently a contributing member of EHZC, a contribution would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions about this winter study group, please contact either JiZan at debawood@veizon.net or Meisho Paula at paulaborsody@gmail.com.
We hope that you will join us for an enriching winter study group as we learn, share, and practice the dharma together.
